playball !

“It’s raining, huh?” Nino says, when he’s getting up from the bed. The cold large bed that he won’t use for a while. Beside him, there’s a tray with breakfast in it and a large note that says, ‘eat this before you work!’ He smirks then go to the bathroom.

“He already left,” is all he says after seeing only one toothbrush in the glass. He is fully awake now, so he sits on the couch and takes the coffee with him. Watching the rain which pours gently.

-last night-

“Where have you been?” Ohno greeted him with big smile, hands extended to make a hug. Nino entered the room and passed Ohno’s hand, then sat on the couch, hugged his legs and buried his face on them.

“Why?” Ohno approached him with a worried face, his hand stretched to pat the other boy’s head. After a second, Nino spoke, “I’m sorry.” “I think things won’t work out well anymore.” Ohno asked in a very soft voice, “You mean us?” Nino nodded. “Why do think so?” Nino lifted up his face to see Ohno’s,“ I…don’t love you anymore.”.

Ohno received a pretty big damage there but he chose to remain calm. “Is there someone else?” Nino shook his head. “It’s just me. I can no longer feel the spark.” Nino paused, then, “Your…words…seems cold…to me. And. I sense no comfort. In your voice.” Nino felt like he was choked by his own words. Ohno opened his mouth, “Well, we argue a lot lately. But we can always get this rite, can’t we?” Nino, again, shook his head.

Seeing that, Ohno couldn’t say anything. His body acted unconsciously, leaning closer to embrace the younger boy. Which was accepted this time. “Am I done, in your mind?” Ohno asked. Nino didn’t say a thing but Ohno could feel a single tear dropping to his shoulder. “It’s alrite, I’m sorry I even try.” Then he cupped Nino’s face to face him. “Just forgive my two mistakes.” Ohno tried his hardest to stay calm, disguised his shaken voice, “The first one is me holding your hands,”—inhaled—”the second one is me trying to live gently next to you.” Nino simply nodded. He could feel his cheeks hot, more tears running down. “Your mistakes are a lot more than that. Baka.” Ohno just smiled, it was all he could do now. He leaned closer to kiss Nino’s lips for the last time. Doubted, he went for the forehead instead, and hugged him even tighter.

“Say,” Nino opened his mouth, “will I regret it once you’re gone?”

“Of course you will.”

Nino takes a sip of a cold coffee from his glass. Still looking at the rain. Ne, oh-chan, I wonder  if there will be a time when we walk hand in hand again. Till that time,

“ see you again.”
